A LETTER TO MY BABY
Dear Lux, You are ONE today, how can it be? I remember exactly a year ago when I heard your first cry, and a tear rolled down my cheek. You were delivered cesarian so they did not place you in my arms quite yet, but they brought you up to my face so I could see you. I then gave you a kiss on your cheek and couldn't wait till I could squeeze you moments later. You had dark hair, and dark eyes, exact opposite of your brother and I remember distinclty thinking...maybe he will have the exact opposite personality as well. Not that I didn't love Parks with all my heart, but he was a VERY DIFFICULT baby. That's a whole other story :)
All my dreams came true, you were the easiest baby in the world. You slept 4-6 hour stretches from the get go and slept a through the night at 3 months old. You knew your momma needed it! You loved to eat, and ate a whole lot! You hated being cradled and wanted to be upright since you could hold your head up, I believe it was to make sure you had your eyes on big brother at all times, never knew when a fist or foot would be coming your way :/. You never were really into solid foods, and still are not unless they involve a diet coke or a treat...wonder where you get that from? You could have fooled almost everyone though by the size of your thighs. Mmmmmm they are delicious!
I am the most blessed mommy in the world to be able to call you mine. You will probably never understand this, but you came at one of the hardest times in your dad and I's life. We were anxiously awaiting a call from the admissions office at UNLV dental school. I actually thought it would have come long before you ever arrived, but no such luck. The night before I went to the hospital I remember looking at your dad and saying "How can I have a baby tomorrow, we don't even know what our future holds?" He assured me that everything would be ok. Unfortunately we never got that call that summer. Your dad reapplied for the following year, prayers were answered, and he got in! I look back now and realize that Heavenly Father sent you to me to ease the pain and sadness that was in our home. You were our BLESSING! You made everything better, you were our hope for the next year.
Lux I love you more than anything. Your sweet spirit and smile can light up any room. Happy Birthday baby boy, here's to many more!
XoXo Mom
